Bariatric Surgery

The Ohio State University Medical Center is a leader in the field of bariatric surgery.  Certified as an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence in 2005, our team performs over 200 - 400 metabolic and obesity related procedures per year.  Specializing in minimally invasive approaches including laparoscopic gastric bypass and adjustable banded gastroplasty (LapBand), we offer the best treatment options for patients.  Additionally, The Ohio State University Medical Center was the first institution in the United State to offer endoluminal gastric pouch reduction utilizing the StomaphyX (Endogastric Solutions, Redmond, WA) device.

Dr. Bradley Needleman and Dr. Dean Mikami, both board certified and fellowship trained, have performed over 2000 bariatric procedures, making them a very experienced team of bariatric surgeons.  Supporting our surgeons is a comprehensive team of healthcare professionals including dietitians, nurses, exercise physiologist, and psychologist.  Our team is committed to the treatment of metabolic diseases and obesity with surgical options.
