Gall stones are a common medical condition.  They are caused when cholesterol and other things found in bile form a stone, the size of which can range from a grain of salt to golf ball size.  Surgical treatment becomes necessary when the stones block the bile duct, causing a variety of symptoms ranging from fever and chills, to belly pain, to possible signs of jaundice such as the whites of your eyes turning yellow.  When surgical treatment is necessary, Ohio State University Medical Center can offer you the best treatment available.
